The Alibaba group has issued a clarification assuring that its technology won’t be used for targetting and identifying specific ethnic groups. The clarification came after a report claimed that the firm’s facial recognition technology can be used to identify Uighur minorities. “We have eliminated any ethnic tag in our product offering,” the firm said while adding that it was “dismayed” to find ethnicity as an attribute in its tech.
