Netflix’s Third-Quarter Profit Jumps 44 Percent to 3.66 Billion Dollars
Netflix
Netflix reported third-quarter revenue of 12.87 billion dollars, up 11.8 percent from a year earlier, while net income jumped about 44 percent to 3.66 billion dollars, or 0.87 dollars per share, beating analyst estimates. Operating income rose 37 percent to 4.5 billion dollars, and the operating margin expanded to 34.6 percent from 28.2 percent. The stock still fell nearly 6 percent after the results, as the company guided to slower revenue growth ahead and said its ad-tier and password-sharing efforts face tougher comparisons. Netflix now has more than 300 million members worldwide, and it is betting on live events, gaming and advertising to drive the next stage of growth.
