China’s Economy Grows 4.5 Percent in the Third Quarter

China’s gross domestic product expanded 4.5 percent year on year in the third quarter of 2026, accelerating from 4.3 percent in the second quarter, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed on October 19. GDP reached 37.54 trillion yuan in the third quarter, bringing the total for the first three quarters to 107.11 trillion yuan, up 4.6 percent from a year earlier. The NBS said policies to expand domestic demand and stabilize growth are taking effect, with industrial output, services and exports all contributing. Analysts said the reading keeps the economy on track to meet the annual growth target, though they cautioned that external demand and property-sector weakness still pose risks.
国家统计局10月19日发布数据显示，2026年三季度中国国内生产总值同比增长4.5%，增速较二季度的4.3%回升。三季度GDP达37.54万亿元，前三季度GDP达107.11万亿元，同比增长4.6%。统计局表示，扩内需、稳增长政策正在显效，工业生产、服务业和出口均有贡献。分析人士认为，这一增速使经济有望实现全年增长目标，但同时提示外需和房地产领域的疲软仍是风险。
