Alibaba Bans Anthropic AI Tools for Employees
Alibaba will ban employees from using Anthropic’s AI tools for work starting July 10, citing possible back-door security risks. The company has classified Claude Code as high-risk software and ordered staff to remove Anthropic’s AI products. Employees are instead required to use Alibaba’s own AI assistant, Qoder. The move comes after Anthropic accused Alibaba in June of attempting to copy its AI capabilities through a large-scale distillation attack. Anthropic also prohibits companies from China and other “adversarial nations” from using its AI models. Both companies declined to comment.
