Microsoft Invests $2.5 Billion in Enterprise AI Deployment

Microsoft has launched Microsoft Frontier Company, a new business focused on helping enterprises successfully deploy AI using Microsoft’s existing technologies. The company is investing $2.5 billion and assigning 6,000 engineering and industry experts to the effort. While Microsoft says the project goes beyond the common Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) model, it resembles similar AI deployment initiatives from AWS, OpenAI, and Anthropic. Microsoft’s strong enterprise customer base, including partnerships with London Stock Exchange Group, Unilever, Land O’Lakes, and Accenture, gives the new venture a strong advantage.
