A humanoid robot made headlines in Beijing after running the 100 meters in 9.39 seconds, faster than the men’s world record of 9.58 seconds set by Usain Bolt in 2009.
一台人形机器人近日在北京创造了惊人纪录，以9.39秒完成100米，比尤塞恩·博尔特在2009年创造的男子100米世界纪录9.58秒还快。
The performance took place Saturday during the opening ceremony of the second World Humanoid Robot Games at Beijing’s National Speed Skating Oval. The robot’s run marked the beginning of a major international competition focused on testing the physical abilities of humanoid machines.
这场比赛于周六在北京国家速滑馆举行，是第二届世界人形机器人运动会开幕式上的一项比赛。这一表现也拉开了人形机器人竞技比赛的序幕。
The Games feature 51 events and 1,301 competitions, attracting 666 teams and 2,056 humanoid robots from around the world. The number of participating teams has increased by 138 percent compared with last year’s inaugural Games, highlighting the rapid growth of the humanoid robotics industry.
本届运动会共设置51个项目、1301场比赛，吸引了来自世界各地的666支队伍和2056台人形机器人参加。参赛队伍数量比去年首届比赛增加了138%，显示出人形机器人产业正在快速发展。
The 9.39-second result is particularly striking because it is significantly faster than Bolt’s official human world record. However, robot and human sprint performances are not directly comparable, as robots have different body structures, mechanical systems and movement capabilities.
