SpaceX is seeking to raise about 40 billion dollars to purchase Nvidia artificial-intelligence chips, the Financial Times reported on October 6, in one of the largest financings ever tied to computing hardware. The deal, led by Apollo Global Management, would combine roughly 10 billion dollars in bank loans with 30 billion dollars in investment-grade debt. The fundraising highlights how AI data centers have turned compute hardware into a major new asset class. It comes as Wall Street has been assembling even bigger AI chip financing packages, including a separate 60-billion-dollar deal tied to Broadcom and Anthropic. SpaceX, the rocket company founded by Elon Musk, has been rapidly expanding its Starlink and AI ambitions, and the chip order is expected to power its growing satellite and data-center operations.
