AI Startup Manus Raises Over 500 Million Dollars After Meta Deal Collapse

Chinese AI startup Manus raised more than 500 million dollars in fresh funding, its parent company Butterfly Effect announced on October 8. The round was co-led by Boyu Capital and IDG Capital, with existing investors Tencent, Sequoia China and ZhenFund joining. The valuation reportedly doubled to about 4 billion dollars. The financing comes after regulators blocked Meta’s completed acquisition of Manus, which had been valued at more than 2 billion dollars, forcing the company to restore independent operations on September 1. Manus makes an AI agent that carries out real-world tasks on behalf of users, a fast-growing sector as tech labs race to launch personal assistants. The company said it will use the funds to build personal AI assistants and expand globally.
