The Enduring Legacy of Old Master Q
《老夫子》的不朽传承
Alfonso Wong’s beloved comic strip Old Master Q, debuting in 1962, remains cherished by Hongkongers. The honest, traditional-clad character navigates Hong Kong’s changes, with companions like Big Potato and Mr Chin. Wong created over 18,000 strips, using self-deprecating humor. He died in 2017, would turn 100 this year, and 2022 marked the 60th anniversary of the strip’s serialization. His works reflected social issues—crime, inequality, cultural gaps—and even the 1997 handover, resonating through generations.
