Suspected Cyberattack Knocks Out France’s Postal and Banking Systems
France’s national postal service La Poste and its banking arm, La Banque Postale, suffered widespread outages on Monday following a suspected distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack. The incident was described as a “major network failure” that disrupted all internal information systems. As a result, online mail services, banking websites, mobile apps, and other digital platforms were temporarily unavailable. Customers were still able to complete postal and banking transactions in person.La Banque Postale confirmed that the attack blocked customer access to online and mobile banking services. While a Russian hacktivist group claimed responsibility, authorities have not verified who was behind the attack. The incident comes amid a surge in cybersecurity problems in France, including a recent government data breach and other suspected cyber intrusions, though no direct links have been confirmed.
