HSBC Hong Kong Outage Briefly Disrupts Banking Services
汇丰香港系统故障短暂中断银行服务
HSBC, Hong Kong’s largest bank with about 6.2 million customers, suffered a temporary system shutdown on Friday afternoon that disrupted digital and branch services. Some customers reported that the mobile app and online banking stopped working from around 1pm, showing a maintenance notice. A staff member said the bank’s citywide computer network had failed, though the cause was unclear. Branch services resumed by about 3.08pm, but mobile banking functions such as transfers, trading, foreign exchange, and credit card repayments remained unavailable for several hours. By 6pm, HSBC said all services were fully restored and apologised, without disclosing the reason or number of users affected.
