Bitcoin fell below US$70,000 on Thursday, deepening a broad sell-off across cryptocurrencies as risk sentiment weakened globally. The world’s largest digital asset dropped to a low of US$66,675, its weakest level since October 2024, and was last down about 6.5 per cent. According to CoinGecko, the total crypto market has lost around US$2 trillion in value since peaking at US$4.38 trillion in early October, including US$800 billion erased in the past month alone. Bitcoin is down 23 per cent this year, while ether has lost about 34 per cent. Analysts say volatility in metals and tech stocks has intensified pressure on digital assets, pushing the crypto market into a prolonged reset phase.
