Tesla Prepares Mass Production of Third-Gen Optimus Robot

Tesla announced on Weibo that its third-generation humanoid robot will debut soon, marking its first mass-produced model. The company expects annual production to reach 1 million units. During its January 28 earnings call, CEO Elon Musk said Optimus V3 will launch in the first quarter. Tesla has redesigned the robot from scratch, enabling it to learn tasks by observing humans. Musk also revealed Tesla will halt production of the Model S and Model X to expand robot manufacturing capacity. He suggested Optimus could reach consumers by 2027 and handle complex factory tasks by late 2026, though competition from Chinese firms remains strong.
