Ant Group’s AI Payments and Health App Each Top 100 Million Users During Lunar New Year Surge

HANGZHOU, China — As artificial intelligence adoption accelerated during the 2026 Chinese New Year holiday, Ant Group announced that both its Alipay AI Pay service and AI health app AQ have surpassed 100 million users, marking a significant milestone for AI-driven consumer services in China.

Alipay AI Pay exceeded 100 million users on February 23, becoming the world’s first AI-native payment product to reach that scale. The growth was fueled by a holiday shopping boom, as consumers used AI-powered services for daily purchases ranging from bubble tea and coffee to movie tickets. Between February 5 and 11 alone, Alipay AI Pay processed more than 120 million transactions, underscoring strong commercial adoption.

Meanwhile, AQ has become the world’s largest AI-native health app, also surpassing 100 million users during the holiday. The app gained popularity through word of mouth and targeted promotions, with younger users introducing it to family members while returning to their hometowns. From February 9 to 21, 52% of new users came from third-tier cities and below, reflecting rapid expansion beyond major urban centers.

The trend of using AI to manage health is also growing among Chinese travelers. AQ reported that overseas usage during February 9–21 increased 106% compared with early January, as users relied on the app to address health concerns related to climate, diet, and environmental changes.
