Apple Expands Global Age-Verification Tools Amid Rising Child Safety Laws

Apple has launched new age-verification measures worldwide to comply with expanding child safety regulations. The company will block downloads of 18+ apps in Brazil, Australia, and Singapore until users confirm they are adults. Developers can now test an updated Declared Age Range API, which shares a user’s age category without revealing personal data. In Brazil, games with loot boxes will be reclassified as 18+. In the U.S., new users in Utah and Louisiana will have age categories shared with apps. Apple also added signals about parental consent and regulatory requirements, expanding earlier efforts to meet evolving legal standards.
