Justin Sun Agrees to $10M Settlement in US Fraud Case
Crypto entrepreneur Justin Sun has agreed to pay $10 million to settle a civil fraud lawsuit brought by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The case, filed in March 2023, accused Sun and several related organizations of illegally distributing tronix and BitTorrent tokens, manipulating trading volumes through accounts he controlled, and hiding paid celebrity promotions. The SEC claimed the activities generated about $31 million in profits. Sun said the SEC had moved to dismiss all claims against him and the related foundations, though a spokesperson for the agency declined to comment. The case had been paused in February 2025 while settlement discussions took place. A federal judge must still approve the agreement before it becomes final.
