Chinese Banks Tighten Rules on Precious-Metal Products for Individuals
年内20余家银行调整个人贵金属业务，风控明显收紧
Chinese banks are tightening their personal precious-metals businesses, with more than 20 lenders adjusting related products so far this year. Shanghai Pudong Development Bank said on September 8 that it plans to stop offering agency services for individual gold and silver trading on the Shanghai Gold Exchange. Other banks are taking a softer approach, raising margin requirements on deferred contracts to control risk. The moves come as gold prices hover near record highs and retail interest in gold investment surges. Regulators have encouraged banks to strengthen risk management for precious-metal products, which carry significant price volatility.
中国多家银行正在收紧个人贵金属业务，今年以来已有20余家银行对相关产品进行调整。浦发银行9月8日公告称，拟停办代理上海黄金交易所个人贵金属业务。另一些银行则采取相对温和的方式，通过上调个人贵金属延期合约保证金比例来收紧风控。此举正值金价在历史高位附近徘徊、个人黄金投资热情高涨之际。监管机构一直鼓励银行加强对贵金属产品的风险管理，因为这类产品价格波动较大。
