The International Monetary Fund cut its global growth forecast for 2026 to 3.1 percent, down from 3.3 percent projected earlier this year, warning that higher commodity prices and trade tensions are weighing on the world economy. In its World Economic Outlook released on October 13, the IMF said global headline inflation is projected to rise to 4.7 percent this year before easing to 4.1 percent in 2027, with core inflation at 3.9 percent in 2026. The fund said economies have shown resilience in rerouting energy supplies, but urged decisive policy action to keep inflation expectations anchored and to address rising debt levels. Growth is expected to rebound to 3.4 percent in 2027.
