Volvo Feels the Pinch from Tariff Uncertainty
Volvo Group’s Q1 2025 net profit fell to SEK 9.89bn (€910M), down from over SEK 14bn (€1.29bn) last year, driven by a 7% drop in sales amid global tariff uncertainties. Vehicle sales declined 9%, services 1%, and truck deliveries 12%, though order intake rose 13%, especially in Europe where Volvo Trucks hit a record 20%+ market share. Despite an 18% fall in deliveries, European orders grew 25%, partly due to increased defense spending. North American demand slumped over tariff and emissions law concerns. Volvo is adapting regional operations to manage these challenges.
