Nio Predicts Delivery Boom After First Quarterly Profit
Chinese electric vehicle maker Nio expects a sharp rise in deliveries after reporting its first-ever quarterly profit. The company forecasts first-quarter 2026 deliveries of 80,000 to 83,000 vehicles, marking a year-on-year increase of 90 to 97 per cent. The strong outlook contrasts with slower sales across China’s EV market, where reduced purchase tax incentives have hurt demand. During the first two months of 2026, industry leader BYD saw sales drop 35.8 per cent, while Leapmotor posted a 19 per cent increase. Nio’s CEO William Li said the company’s in-house smart EV technologies are reaching mass production, improving competitiveness and lowering costs. Promotions for its Nio and Onvo brands and shorter delivery wait times are also expected to boost March sales.
