Apple Cuts App Store Fees in China to Support Developers

Apple will reduce the commissions it charges developers on its App Store in China, a move welcomed by major gaming firms Tencent and NetEase. The standard commission on paid apps and in-app purchases for iPhone and iPad will drop from 30% to 25%. Fees for subscription renewals and developers in the Small Business and Mini Apps Partner programmes will also fall from 15% to 12%. The new rates will take effect on World Consumer Rights Day. The annual event is known for highlighting companies accused of unfair practices on state television. Apple said the change aims to improve the iOS and iPadOS app ecosystem and create better business opportunities for developers in China.
