Amazon CEO Says 220 Billion Dollars Still Not Enough for AI Demand

Amazon chief executive Andy Jassy said in a podcast interview with venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz that even spending about 220 billion dollars on capital expenditure in 2026 would not be enough to meet customer demand for artificial intelligence. Jassy said the company’s AI business has reached an annualized revenue run rate of more than 25 billion dollars, driven by demand for its Trainium chips and AI cloud services. The company’s order backlog extends to 2028, according to a report from the Shanghai Securities News. The comments underscore how cloud giants are racing to expand capacity as demand for AI computing outpaces supply, and how Amazon is betting heavily on its custom silicon to compete with Nvidia.
