A Mexican navy training ship, Cuauhtemoc, collided with the Brooklyn Bridge during a goodwill tour, breaking its three masts and killing two crew members. At least 19 others were injured, some left suspended in harnesses awaiting rescue. The incident occurred Saturday night near the Brooklyn side of the East River and was caught on video. Despite the dramatic crash, the 142-year-old bridge avoided major damage, and no injuries were reported on it. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
