Apple, Huawei, and Xiaomi top Peking University’s first-ever ranking of China’s 500 most popular online consumer brands, based on shopping data from Alibaba’s Taobao and Tmall. Apple scored a perfect 100, followed closely by Huawei (95.3) and Xiaomi (95.1). Other leading names include Midea, Haier, Lenovo, and Kweichou Moutai. Foreign brands like Nike and Adidas made the top 10, but domestic brands dominated overall, taking 344 spots. The report highlights Chinese consumers’ preference for well-known names, especially in tech and appliances, amid signs of economic recovery and rising demand for quality and hi-tech products.
