YouTube Drives Google Subscription Growth as Annual Revenue Hits $60 Billion

Google’s subscription business grew strongly in the fourth quarter, driven largely by YouTube. Alphabet said it now has 325 million paying users across Google One and YouTube Premium, up from 300 million three months earlier. YouTube’s advertising revenue rose 9% year on year to US$11.38 billion, slightly below expectations, while total YouTube revenue reached US$60 billion for the full year, up 17%. The company highlighted strong demand for its US$8-per-month ad-free Premium tier and plans to expand YouTube TV with new genre-based packages. YouTube Shorts and podcasts continued to gain traction, while AI tools were adopted by over 1 million creators.
