Gemini Nears 1 Billion Monthly Users

Google’s AI assistant Gemini is nearing 1 billion monthly users, reaching over 950 million in Q2 2026, triple last year’s level. Its growth is bringing it closer to ChatGPT, which passed 1 billion monthly users in June. Gemini is also gaining popularity on iOS, with over 137 million downloads in the past year. Meanwhile, Gemini’s AI assistant market share rose to 27.7%, while ChatGPT’s fell below 50% for the first time. Google’s AI-powered search mode also surpassed 1 billion users.
