TP-Link Shrinks Shanghai Chip Unit After Product Test Failure

TP-Link, a leading Chinese router maker, has laid off most staff at its Shanghai chip development unit following a product’s failed final testing, sources say. The cuts at Lianzhou International’s Shanghai arm mainly affected front-end Wi-Fi chipset workers like algorithm and verification staff. TP-Link, which holds 60% of the US router market, retains its Shenzhen chip facility.
消息人士称,中国领先路由器制造商普联科技(TP-Link)因一款产品最终测试失败,已解雇其上海芯片开发部门的大部分员工。连州国际(普联海外分支)上海部门的裁员主要影响 Wi-Fi 芯片组前端模块的工作人员,包括算法和验证等岗位。占据美国路由器市场 60% 份额的普联仍保留其深圳芯片设施。
