China‘s BeiDou satellite navigation system has solidified its dominance in the domestic market, generating nearly US$80 billion in economic output in 2024 — a 7.39% year-on-year increase. The system is now integrated into 288 million smartphones, mainly from Huawei and Xiaomi, and is used for over 1 trillion location requests daily. Its growing compatibility and widespread adoption highlight BeiDou’s rise as a powerful alternative to GPS, reflecting China’s push for technological self-reliance and global positioning system independence.
