Tesla has launched a new all-wheel-drive Performance version of the Model Y in China, priced from 369,000 yuan. The model, which went on sale on September 11, is the latest addition to Tesla’s best-selling electric SUV lineup in the country. The Performance variant features upgraded motors and suspension for quicker acceleration and sharper handling, according to the company. Tesla has faced intensifying competition in China from domestic rivals such as BYD, Li Auto and Nio, which have been rolling out cheaper models with advanced features. The new Model Y is seen as part of Tesla’s effort to defend its share of the world’s largest EV market.
